A contractor was having issues with nuisance tripping at the main Isolator for a block of 3 apartments in London. If there was a fault in one of the apartments the main isolator would trip, and all 3 apartments would be without power. The contractors found themselves regularly struggling to find faults as the main isolator would trip each time.
The first thing to do was to change the main incomer from an MCCB to an Isolator. The isolator would then feed 3 MCCBs, one for each apartment. Northern Switchgear designed and manufactured a Bespoke Enclosure fitted with 3 MCCB/RCDs. This meant that a fault in one of the apartments would only trip its own supply rather than all 3. All 3 MCCBs are fitted with earth leakage relays to detect faults in earth as well as over currents.
